About

Promoting, improving and upholding the standards of cognitive behavioural hypnotherapists is at the core of our work as an organisation.  We encourage and support our members to continue to learn and develop throughout their careers as therapists, with science and evidence at the heart of everything they do.  In this way we ultimately protect the clients and the public who choose to work with therapists on our register and who uphold the principles of best practice.

All of our members agree to our Code of Conduct, are required to maintain comprehensive Public Liability & Professional Indemnity Insurance, maintain regular CPD (continuing professional development) hours and to attend regular supervision.

There is a formal complaints procedure for any concerns about a member of REBHP who is considered to have behaved contrary to the Code of Conduct.

REBHP is clear about its goals and role in raising the standards of hypnotherapy & hypno-psychotherapy and raising awareness of evidence-based approaches.

We envisage a future in which hypno-psychotherapy (i propose we change this to cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy until we have the psychotherapy learning routed mapped out)   is widely recognised by the general public, media, and other professions, as the original and most fundamental modality of psychotherapy.

We expect high quality research on hypnosis to continue to provide validation for its essential concepts, strategies and techniques.

We aim to encourage the development of a highly trained and scientifically-oriented profession of hypno-psychotherapy which is better adapted to meet the needs of clients.

The public have a right to be able to expect that the therapy they receive will be based on the best contemporary evidence, and skills training, and we believe that goal is both realistic and achievable.
